Web 2.0: Wiki's, Blogs, RSS Feeds and Podcasts
Wiki's:
Wiki's allows you to create, edit/modify and delete information. They allow teams from different locations in the office or the world to work together and share ideas. All Fortune 500 companies use some sort of Wiki.
Wikipedia: This is probably a familiar name because its the worlds largest Wiki. You can create your own account and then list your company. It ranks on Google very high and is a great way to give your company credibility.
Important Note: You must make a certain number of edits or/and days before you can upload a picture.
Blogs
WordPress: This is a blogging site and a must for any small business owner. If you don't have time to get create any of the other social media types, this is a must. Why use WordPress? For more information check out Create Your Blog.
If you are using any blog make sure you are maximizing your search engine results by adding multiple pings to the account.
RSS Feeds:
Short for Really Simple Syndication, are in .xml format so you may have to create a new .xml file using Dreamweaver and then to get the code create it on-line with this Online RSS Feed Creator.
Podcast:
A podcast is a digital media file streamed over the internet and can be later stored and viewed on a personal media player or computer.
The software I suggest for creating your own podcast is RecordForAll. It is very easy to use and comes with a great tutorial when you start up the program. A great commercial program is Adobe SoundBooth.
