WordPress Appearance

Change Your WordPress Theme

To change your wordpress theme go to your dashboard and click the Appearance tab and click on Add New Themes. This will allow you to search specific names or general colors, columns, width, features, and function. We suggest that you chose the Feature of THEME OPTIONS. This allows you to customize your blog even more. After you find a theme that suits your blogs needs, you need to click install and then activate and your new theme should appear on your blog. There are also additional themes that are not located on the dashboard. Websites like 100 Free Word Press Themes allows you to download their professional themes and upload them to your blog free of change. To do this simply go to Appearance, Add New Themes and then click the upload text at the top of the page and find your downloaded ZIP file on your computer. If this doesn't work you need to go into your themes folder on your website located at http://ROOT DIRECTORY/BLOG DIRECTORY/wp-content/themes/ and copy the unzipped theme file and it should appear on when you go to manage themes. Next, simply click activate and it will appear on your WordPress Blog.

Editing Themes

Editing your theme requires modest computer skills and the use of an editing program.  we suggest Adobe Dreamweaver CS4(PC/Mac) to edit the coding and ThemeDreamer to view the php coding in Adobe Dreamweaver. Adobe Photoshop also offers a 30-day trial version and Theme Dreamer offers a 15 day trial period or it costs under $30 for the license. Once you have these programs you can begin to edit the css and php. Remember, for most themes the picture links and font colors and attributes are actually in the style.css file so try to find the appropriate css link to in the coding of the php and then find the same css information in style.css.

Edit the Colors of Your Blog

To edit the colors of the your blog you must edit the style.css.  You might be familiar with this process if you design websites.  Find your style.css file which should be located in http://ROOT DIRECTORY/BLOG DIRECTORY/wp-content/themes/YOUR THEME/style.css

Generate Your Own WordPress Theme

To create your own wordpress theme in minutes you can download Artisteer 2.1 for Windows. This program allows you to edit each aspect your theme or shuffle random settings if you are not as certain about your design skills..
